Healthcare Planning: Powers of Attorney for Healthcare
Clients are urged to execute a power of attorney for healthcare. This document provides for the ability of certain named individuals to act for you making health care based decisions in the event that you are unable to do so. By executing this document, you can achieve the following:
- Name an Agent Outside of the Statute or to Act Alone (you named your daughter first, and then two of your sons in order)
- Detail Wishes for Life Sustaining Treatment
- Name Guardian if one needs to be Appointed for You
- Detail Care to be Refused
The document should be detailed and should address specific items of care. Agents should be named in order of preference.
